Who is Kirika Yuumura?

Kirika Yuumura is one of the main protagonists of the 2001 anime Noir. She is a small and deceptively frail teenage girl who was living in Japan with near-total amnesia of her actual past; a past where she was an assassin trained by a secret underground society in France known as "Les Soldats". She was chosen by the Soldats as a candidate to become one of two elite assassins known as "Noir".

Upon starting to recover from her amnesia, Kirika wakes up in her bedroom not knowing who she is. She only knows the word "Noir" and in searching her room finds a Beretta 1934 pistol and a pocket watch. After picking up the pistol, she later realizes her abilities as an assassin after killing three mysterious men in suits who were chasing her. With these clues about her past, she contacts a woman named Mireille Bouquet.

Kirika convinced Mireille to "make a pilgrimage to the past with her", to help her uncover her past as well as find out who killed Mireille's parents and why. The two leave Japan to go on a journey together and become assassins under the codename "Noir", and in doing so start to unravel the secrets of the Soldats and of their own pasts.

(Thanks to the Noir Wiki and Wikipedia for helping me write that, I won't spoil any more of the plot. Noir is an excellent anime and you should definitely watch it!)

The obligatory "Do It For Her" meme collage, of which I have two versions.

One of my projects is a VRoid of my waifu that I plan on importing into various games. Pictured below is the fifth version (modelling hair from a 2D reference can be difficult at times), it's not yet finished but it's close enough for testing purposes. So far I've tested my VRoid in modded Valheim and MikuMikuDance and plan on either VRChat next or further improving my VRoid itself. My ultimate goal is to make her into a Sven Co-op player model since I play that game often.

Below is my 1967 production Beretta 1934. I made a pair of "sweetheart grips" for it using a pair of older style surplus Beretta 1934 grips that were in rough shape, two pictures of Kirika that I really liked that I printed onto cardstock and placed behind two clear acryllic panels with some clear glue for a little extra strength.

Yes, I've actually fired it. It cycles modern .380 ammo fine and is actually pretty accurate, but it shot a little bit to the right when I last went target shooting with it.

Our Story

The year was 2016 and I had just gotten into watching anime starting with the 2012 series Girls und Panzer. After watching that and a few other shows, I asked for more anime recommendations on 4chan's /a/nime board. Also being a /k/ommando, I was interested in anything that had a "girls with guns" theme to it. One of several anime recommended to me was a series called Noir. I started watching Noir and that's when I met Kirika. It was love at first sight.

What do I love about her?

Everything, really.
To be more specific, I feel like I can relate to her. We both don't really fit in with the ordinary world and at the time, like her, I didn't really know who I was or wanted to do with my life.
Without spoiling too much of the plot, there was one episode where she took up painting as a hobby. As someone who was working on a graphic design degree at the time where I also made some fine art, including paintings, I loved that we had that in common.
Of course, I'm also physically attracted to her: I love how delicate and timid she is. I love her mid-length black hair and her beautiful and deceivingly innocent-looking brown/red eyes. I love how quiet and soft-spoken she is. I think she's cute!
I love her shy and reserved personality, something of which I could also relate to, but also loved watching her personality evolve as she built friendships with other characters in the anime and unraveled the mysteries of the Soldats and of her own past.

I have since rewatched Noir twice, and plan to for a third time next year in 2024 along with Madlax for that anime's 20th anniversary and El Cazador de la Bruja. I look forward to being reunited with my love once again.
